- Favorable Conditions: For cool season grasses the optimum temperature range is at or above 68 degress F (20 degrees C) during dry, hot conditions. For warm season grass, usually during spring green-up. For both types of grass hot, dry, full-sun conditions and sandy soils.

- Symptoms: Small red or brown patches 1/2"- 3" diameter, grass at the center of the spot may be tan with the outside a reddish-brown color, leaving a depression. Roots and the bases of stems may also be discolored
