  • Favorable Conditions: The fungus appears to grow in a wide range of temperatures from cool to warm. The disease becomes most active with prolonged periods of moisture saturated air (fog, heavy dews, light rain)


  • Hosts:Creeping bentgrass, velvet bentgrass, colonial bentgrass, perennial ryegrass, fine fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, Poa annua


  • Symptoms: circular patches ranging from 2 to 10 inches (5 to 50 cm) in diameter. Characteristic red thread (sclerotia or stroma) protruding from the leaf blade.
