  • Pathogen: Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. (teleomorph Athelia rolfsii (Curzi) Tu & Kimbrough)


  • Common Names: Southern Blight, Rolf's Disease



  • Geographic Distribution: North America, Europe, East Asia, Australia, Africa, South America


  • Favorable Conditions: hot, with high humidity (above 90%), humidity will also result in white, aerial mycelium at the periphery of the ring, air temperature 86-95 degrees F (30-35 degrees C), good light, well-aerated soil


  • Symptoms: yellow to reddish brown circular or crescent shaped ring that can be up to 1' (30 cm) in diameter, grass may become chlorotic, and may produce frog eyes
