Climatic region with average temperatures of 50F (10 C) or more for four to seven months. Turfgrasses found in this climatic zone are primarily cool season or C3 plants like Kentucky bluegrass, creeping bentgrass, tall fescue, and perennial ryegrass to name a few.

The primary temperate zone exists in the Northern Hemisphere, while in the Southern Hemisphere, the temperate zone exists along the western coast of South America, southern tip of Africa, and Australia, and New Zealand.
