Brushing

1. In putting green maintenance, the practice of lifting excessive leaf and stem growth of grasses prior to mowing. Usually accomplished with brushes affixed to mowers ahead of the cutting reel.

The brushing unit is attached to the front portion of the walkbehind mower.
